World Encephalitis Day
Since 2013, Aliki has fostered a meaningful partnership with the Encephalitis International Association, where she actively serves as both a spokesperson and ambassador. This association plays a vital role in raising awareness about the disease, which annually impacts over 500,000 individuals worldwide.
A significant date on the calendar, February 22, is recognized globally as a day dedicated to increasing awareness of encephalitis. Over the years, Aliki has been at the forefront of various initiatives and events aimed at spreading knowledge about this debilitating condition.
In a notable event, Aliki took a proactive stance by organizing a charity concert in Liverpool as part of her Awakenings Tour. This concert not only showcased her musical talents but also contributed to the ongoing efforts to raise awareness about encephalitis. Aliki also presented a concert in Niagara Falls, Canada raising awareness of Encephalitis. She also extended her support by participating in the 42km London Marathon in 2015, proudly representing the Encephalitis Society and emphasizing the importance of solidarity in the face of this health challenge.
The year 2021 marked another impactful moment in Aliki’s advocacy journey. Responding to her call, the Department of Antiquities embraced the Encephalitis Society’s campaign by illuminating the Medieval Castles of Larnaka and Pafos, along with the Pattichio Municipal Theatre in Limassol, in striking red lights. This symbolic gesture not only demonstrated the unity in addressing encephalitis but also highlighted the collaboration between Aliki and various entities to amplify the message of awareness and support for those affected by the disease.
